Environment Specialist

As part of our growth strategy, we are developing key coal assets in Canada, including large scale coal projects with considerable capital investment.  In line with these growth strategies and with a deliberate focus on safe project delivery and performance optimization, we are seeking an experienced Environment Specialist with an educational background in the Environmental area and 5-10 years of mining industry experience. 

The position leads the environmental and project design aspects of our current and future projects.  Within this role, you will work with the projects team and construction contractors to ensure that environmental standards, objectives and targets are achieved throughout the project life cycle.  You will lead the development and implementation of Project Environmental Standards, including water management, reclamation, sediment and erosion control and wildlife management.  This position reports to the Environmental Manager, and is an integral member of the project study team.

With your expert knowledge of the legal and corporate obligations for Canadian mining and exploration activities, you will provide authoritative and expert advice in relation to provincial and federal approvals.  You will develop and prepare detailed, comprehensive and workable Environmental project documentation delivered on time and to agreed standards.

Key to your success in this role will be your relevant qualifications, sound working knowledge of Federal and Provincial environmental legislation, your ability to manage external consultants, and your ability to build positive external and internal partnerships.

This role is based in our Vancouver Project Office and some travel to the Peace River Coal region will be required.
